Since 2011, Amy Sheon has served as the founding Executive Director for the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine’s Urban Health Initiative. For more than two decades, she has conducted clinical and prevention studies with a particular focus on health equity, including Demographic and Health surveys around the globe and on HIV prevention at the National Institutes of Health. At Case Western Reserve University, she has been a strong advocate for developing approaches to population health improvement that leverage big data, community health data, and patient-generated data. She initiated and leads the Community Health & Wellness Track of the Cleveland Medical Hackathon and also developed and leads Cleveland & Cuyahoga Health Data Matters, an open data platform about the health of people living in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County. A major current focus is on engaging individuals with limited digital access and skills in the use of digital medicine tools. Amy earned her BA in sociology (Cornell University), an MPH (UM), and a PhD in public health policy (Johns Hopkins University).
